May 12th, 2005Vehicle Updates
March 11th, 2005Right, so the Jimmy is for sale (see below), and I’ve bought a 1992 BMW 325i 4dr 5sp that’s in Boston. I’m flying up Monday to pick up the car and drive it 1,250 miles back home by way of Buffalo where I’m meeting Ed Saki to pick up some parts for my EX500. Hopefully I’ll have that bike built back up in the next month or two.
In other good news, I got to pick up the Jag from the shop today. It’s a 1986 Jaguar XJ6 sedan. New transmission seems to shift good; the engine is running a bit rough since it has sat idle for over a year now. It needs a new battery, master cylinder, and some work on the steering, which I think is far too loose. At any rate, I’m glad to have it back, and look forward to getting it back on the road.0 – 60
March 5th, 2005Eurotuned.com: Factory 0-60 times
Of note:- 1989 BMW 325i: 7.5 sec
- 1992 BMW 325i: 7.8 sec
- 1987 Jaguar XJ6: 11.5 sec
Also,
- 1990 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo: 5.6 sec
Clint’s old car; probably the fastest automobile I’ve ever ridden in. His was faster, I think, with some mods.
I note their omission of trucks and SUVs. I think my 4Runner’s 0-60 time was measured in minutes, not seconds.
Race Season Predictions
February 1st, 2005See one post previous for schedules of the major racing series this year. Here are my predictions for the season.
MotoGPRossi is unbeatable overall. Another championship year. Capirossi, Hayden, and Gibernau will be strong. Here’s hoping Edwards and Hayden have great seasons for America. Formula One
Ferrari and Schumacher win again, that’s a no-brainer. BAR Honda and Renault take second and third constructors. Look for Red Bull to challenge in three years. WRC
WRC will be the most exciting motorsport to watch this year. Anybody can win it. I want Galli to have a great season, but not sure if Mitsu can keep him in a good car. If I have to pick, I’ll say Loeb will win it all. This one is truly anybody’s game.
Lambo LM002
May 8th, 2004Note to self: after getting rich and starting collection of rare automobiles, don’t forget to acquire a Lambo LM002.
Woe to the automobile what should belong to me
February 23rd, 2004Last week the 4Runner started acting up again. As it has been no stranger to mechanical difficulty, I didn’t pay much attention, but took it to the shop after it was smoking. It looked to be running hot, so I figured I was in for a new radiator. The problem turned out to be a busted thermostat, but in the process of getting hot, it blew a head gasket. Knowing full well how much repairs have been for that vehicle, I decided it had crossed me for the last time.
I’m now the owner of a 1999 GMC Jimmy, white/charcoal. Pictures forthcoming. Now for the difficult decision: do I move all the electronics from the 4Runner to the Jimmy, or leave it stock? The 4Runner is sitting around, waiting for a potential buyer who wants to fix it, or for me to scrap it out for parts. *Edit: Sold it.*“The best looking Jaguar XJ12 Coupe in the world”
January 23rd, 2004Beautiful. I’d love to end up with the ’86 XJ6 looking anywhere close to that good.
Laws for British Sports Cars
January 5th, 2004While looking for information on my grandfather’s 1986 Jaguar XJ6, I found…
Laws for British Sports Cars I think the same is true for ALL older British cars. Nothing beats their style, but mechanically this Jaguar is a nightmare.Fuel For Your Desktop

Fuel, indeed. Some of the most awesome automotive photography on the web, all in 1600×1200 hi-res JPEG images for use as desktop backgrounds. Check out the Chrysler 300C and Bugatti Veyron galleries for starters. Thanks to freeride88 for the link.Maybe that’ll do it.
January 7th, 2003This morning I drug my of-late cantankerous 4Runner to see Craig at Pulaski Pawn & Audio. Their business is located right beside my father’s, but they only recently started doing audio installs and I had never been over there.
Anyway, I seemed to have caught Craig at a good time, and he graciously took the time to look at my system. We started unhooking all the components one at a time trying to find the power draw that’s killing my battery, and he finally decided it was one of the Memphis amplifiers that’s not cutting off properly. He also installed a new battery, which I was much in need of. The Bosch I had previously has been drained and recharged so many times that it won’t hold a charge. He installed a Stinger SPV44 dry cell deep cycle battery and referred me to a shop in Lawrenceburg to have the rogue amp checked out.
